The beautiful Barrow Navigation waters provide a haven for both the novice and experienced angler.

Game anglers will find trout and salmon fishing, while their course fishing friends will enjoy excellent bream, tench, rudd and pike fishing throughout the season.

Permits are required to fish for salmon and trout. These are available from the local angling clubs or tackle shops.

Fish the Barrow for Salmon, Brown Trout, Pike, Bream, Rudd and Perch. On the canal you may find Pike, Bream, Rudd and Tench

The Fishing
Grand Canal, River Barrow and several lakes:

  • The canal has good stocks of skimmers and bream to 3lb, large tench and rudd, with some hybrids, while the nearby River Barrow is highly regarded for its bream - up to 10lb, quality rudd and huge pike.
  • There are four local lakes offering a chance to catch mainly large tench, rudd and roach in peaceful surroundings.
